Amit Sharma, IAS (AGMUT: 2012), has been appointed as Director of Census Operations / Director of Citizen Registration (Deputy Secretary level) for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, for a period up to December 31, 2025.
SAmit Sharma is presently serving under the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, where he oversees key demographic and citizen registration initiatives. Based in Aizawl, Mizoram, he has been instrumental in advancing accurate data collection, transparency, and efficient management of citizen records — essential for national planning and governance.
The position of Director of Citizen Registration for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh holds significant administrative and strategic importance, focusing on maintaining comprehensive and verified citizen data to inform policy formulation and developmental planning across the Union Territories.
In this role, Sharma will lead coordination and verification processes in collaboration with local and central authorities, ensuring the highest standards of data integrity and security.
