RailTel secures RVNL tunnel communication project to strengthen railway infrastructure in Uttarakhand, marking a significant step in enhancing safety and connectivity across challenging terrains.
RailTel Corporation of India has received two major work orders from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited for deploying an integrated tunnel communication system on the Rishikesh–Karnaprayag rail section.
Expanding tunnel communication infrastructure
The project will cover a total stretch of 78.7 km, including communication systems across 11 tunnels, ensuring seamless connectivity and safety in difficult mountainous terrain.
With a project value of ₹564.49 crore, this initiative reinforces RailTel’s role in enabling secure and reliable communication networks for Indian Railways.
Strengthening safety in challenging terrains
From the Katra–Banihal tunnels to sections like Karjat–Lonavala–Igatpuri, RailTel has consistently delivered communication infrastructure in some of India’s most complex railway environments.
This new development further strengthens its footprint in high-difficulty tunnel projects, particularly in the Himalayan region.
Driving smarter railway infrastructure
The RailTel secures RVNL tunnel communication project development aligns with India’s broader push toward smarter, safer, and digitally enabled railway systems.
By integrating advanced communication technologies, the project will enhance operational efficiency, passenger safety, and real-time connectivity across railway networks.
