Walgreens India Private Limited is set to establish its first Global Capability Centre (GCC) in India, with the new facility planned in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Tamil Nadu government on September 18, 2026.
The proposed centre will be located at DLF Downtown in Tharamani and will focus on technology and business services supporting Walgreens’ global operations. The facility is expected to generate more than 250 employment opportunities during its first year, with further expansion planned in the coming years.
The development marks Walgreens’ entry into India’s growing GCC landscape and adds another global healthcare company to Chennai’s expanding technology and business-services ecosystem.
