AI Powers India’s Tech Sector to $315 Billion Revenue Milestone

India’s technology industry is projected to hit $315 billion in revenue for FY26, growing 6.1% year-on-year, with AI contributing 3-4% ($10-12 billion) amid scaled deployments, according to a Businessworld report citing Nasscom. This marks a pivotal shift from AI pilots to outcome-focused transformation, despite global uncertainties.
Exports will reach $246 billion (5.6% growth), driven by ER&D, BPM, and software products, while domestic demand rises 7.9%. AI now accounts for 5-6% of company revenues, with TCS at $1.8 billion annualised, Infosys 5.5% ($275 million), and HCLTech 4% ($146 million).
The sector added 135,000 jobs in FY26, focusing on AI skills; 2 million professionals upskilled, including 2-3 lakh in advanced AI. Nasscom President Rajesh Nambiar noted AI orchestration models sustaining growth.
Strategic M&A targets AI capabilities; frontier tech like semiconductors, quantum, robotics fuel expansion. FY27 sees balanced AI quick wins and long-cycle programs.
