The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Shri Akhil Kumar, IPS (1994 batch, Uttar Pradesh cadre), as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Digital India Corporation, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology. The order was issued by the Department of Personnel & Training on August 25, 2025.
Shri Akhil Kumar is presently serving as Commissioner, Kanpur Police Commissionerate, where he has been instrumental in strengthening law enforcement, public safety, and modern policing frameworks. With an illustrious career spanning over three decades, he brings to his new role a unique blend of security expertise, administrative acumen, and leadership experience.
As MD & CEO of the Digital India Corporation, Shri Kumar will lead critical initiatives under the Digital India Mission, focusing on advancing e-governance, technology-driven service delivery, digital inclusion, and innovation in public administration. His appointment underscores the Government’s commitment to driving digital transformation with enhanced focus on citizen-centric governance, cybersecurity, and organizational efficiency.
