Apurva Chandra IAS has been appointed as an Additional Director in the capacity of Non-Executive, Independent Director at CEAT Limited for a term of five years.
A distinguished Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Mr. Chandra currently serves as Principal Advisor at the Ministry of Defence, contributing to the review of the Defence Acquisition Procedure and advancing self-reliance in defence manufacturing. His extensive public sector experience spans critical roles, including Arbitrator at the Indian Council of Arbitration, Secretary, Health, Government of India, and Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, where he spearheaded initiatives such as the U-WIN portal, expansion of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, and establishment of the AVGC National Centre of Excellence.
Earlier, as Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Mr. Chandra played a pivotal role in framing rules for India’s four labour codes and launching the e-Shram portal, which successfully registered over 30 crore unorganized workers. During his tenure as Principal Secretary (Industries), Government of Maharashtra, he was instrumental in the development of Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) and attracting major global investments from companies including Fiat Chrysler, Mercedes, and General Electric.
With his strategic leadership across ministries such as Defence, Health, Labour, and Industry, Mr. Chandra brings deep policy insight and governance expertise to CEAT Limited’s Board.
