Senior BJP leader and NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan has been elected as the Vice President of India on 9th September,2025 defeating Opposition INDIA bloc’s nominee B. Sudershan Reddy in the Vice-Presidential election.
Radhakrishnan, a two-time Member of Parliament from Coimbatore and former Governor of Jharkhand and Telangana, secured a clear majority with NDA’s support, marking his elevation to the second-highest constitutional office in the country. His victory further strengthens the NDA’s position in Parliament, where the Vice President also serves as the ex-officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
The election was closely watched as a key political contest between the ruling NDA and the Opposition INDIA bloc. With this win, Radhakrishnan is set to succeed Jagdeep Dhankhar as the Vice President of India.
