Hitesh Makwana, a senior IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, has been granted a proforma promotion to the Chief Secretary grade by the Tamil Nadu Government. He is a 1995-batch officer and is currently serving on central deputation as the Surveyor General of India.
The proforma promotion places Hitesh Makwana IAS Chief Secretary grade among the highest ranks within the Tamil Nadu IAS cadre, acknowledging his long-standing contribution to public administration and governance. His current role as Surveyor General of India places him at the helm of one of the country’s oldest scientific and technical organisations, responsible for national mapping, geospatial data, and surveying functions critical to infrastructure and governance planning.
