The Government of India has appointed Mohammed Y Safirulla, IAS (Kerala cadre, 2010 batch), as Director in the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Delhi under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of five years.

Renowned for his exceptional academic credentials and forward-thinking administrative approach, Shri Safirulla brings extensive experience in governance, technology-driven reforms, and public service delivery to his new role.

An academic achiever, Shri Safirulla holds:

B.E. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering – PSG College of Technology, Bharathiar University (First with Distinction)

MBA in Finance – T.A. Pai Management Institute (First)

M.S. in Public Policy & Management – Carnegie Mellon University (Outstanding), specialising in Digital Transformation and Analytics

Master of Public Administration – Harvard Kennedy School (First)

Machine Learning Specialization – Stanford University

Since joining the IAS in 2010, he has served in diverse leadership roles including:

District Collector & Magistrate, Ernakulam – Recognised for efficient disaster management, infrastructure development, and civic engagement.

Project Director, eHealth Kerala & Director, Kerala State IT Mission – Spearheaded digital integration in healthcare and governance.

Special Commissioner & Additional Commissioner, Kerala GST Department – Strengthened fiscal management and revenue systems.

OSD (Finance – Resources) – Advanced public finance strategies.

Managing Director, Vyttila Mobility Hub Society – Enhanced urban mobility initiatives.
