The Government of Uttar Pradesh has appointed Shri Shashi Prakash Goyal, IAS officer of the 1989 batch (Uttar Pradesh cadre), as the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh.
Prior to this, Shri Goyal was serving as the Additional Chief Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, and overseeing the departments of Civil Aviation, State Property, and Protocol.
In his new role, Shri Goyal has also been entrusted with multiple key responsibilities. In addition to serving as the Chief Secretary, he will hold the following concurrent positions:
Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC), Uttar Pradesh
Additional Chief Secretary, Coordination Department
Chairman, PICUP (Pradeshiya Industrial and Investment Corporation of UP)
Chief Executive Officer, UPEIDA (Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority)
Vice Chairman and Project Director, UPSIDA (Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority)
A seasoned administrator with over 35 years of distinguished service, Shri Goyal has held several strategic and high-impact roles at both the state and central levels. Known for his decisive leadership and policy acumen, he has played a vital role in driving governance reforms, infrastructure expansion, and investment facilitation in the state.
His appointment comes at a crucial time as Uttar Pradesh accelerates its journey toward becoming a $1 trillion economy, and his leadership is expected to further strengthen coordination between governance, infrastructure, and industrial development.
Shri Goyal assumes charge with immediate effect.
