Vivek Kumar Gupta, an experienced officer of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE), has been appointed as Member (Infrastructure) of the Railway Board, marking a key leadership development in India’s railway administration.
Prior to this appointment, Vivek Kumar Gupta was serving as the General Manager of Western Railway, where he played a significant role in overseeing large-scale railway operations and infrastructure development. A 1988-batch IRSE officer, Gupta brings with him decades of hands-on experience in railway engineering, project execution, and infrastructure modernization.
In his new role as Member (Infrastructure), Gupta will be responsible for guiding policy formulation, planning, and execution of critical railway infrastructure projects across the country. His expertise is expected to contribute to strengthening India’s rail network, enhancing capacity, and supporting long-term infrastructure growth initiatives.
His appointment comes at a time when Indian Railways is focusing on modernization, expansion, and efficiency-driven infrastructure reforms, making his experience particularly valuable to the Railway Board.
