The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved a two-year extension for Shri Rahul Singh, IAS (Bihar cadre, 1996 batch), who is currently serving as the Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). His tenure, which was set to conclude on 11 November 2025, has now been extended up to 11 November 2027.
Shri Singh, an accomplished civil servant with an extensive career in education administration, has been instrumental in steering CBSE through transformative reforms aimed at enhancing quality, transparency, and digital integration in school education.
Under his leadership, CBSE has focused on implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 recommendations, expanding digital learning platforms, and introducing student-centric examination reforms.
This extension reflects the government’s confidence in Shri Singh’s vision and leadership in shaping the future of school education in India.
