The Government of Uttar Pradesh has announced the appointment of Shri Himanshu Nagpal, IAS, as the Municipal Commissioner of Varanasi. Prior to this, Shri Nagpal served as the Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Varanasi for over three years, where he played a pivotal role in driving key developmental initiatives and urban transformation projects across the district.
With this new appointment, Shri Nagpal returns to serve the city once again, continuing his commitment to advancing Varanasi’s infrastructure, civic administration, and citizen welfare. Expressing gratitude for the opportunity, he shared,
“It’s a blessing to be getting to serve at this beautiful and wonderful city once again, with the blessings of Baba Vishwanath.”
Known for his proactive approach and people-centric governance, Shri Nagpal’s leadership is expected to further strengthen the efforts towards sustainable urban development and smart city initiatives in Varanasi — one of India’s most historic and spiritually significant cities.
