Lord’s Mark Partners with CMET to Pioneer World’s First AI-Based Breast Cancer Detection Device

Lord’s Mark Industries establishes a landmark collaboration with the Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (CMET) to develop what is claimed to be the world’s first AI-based breast cancer detection device, leveraging advanced materials science and intelligent imaging algorithms. The partnership addresses critical gaps in early breast cancer screening accessibility, particularly in resource-constrained environments where traditional mammography infrastructure remains limited.
The innovative device integrates proprietary sensor materials developed by CMET with Lord’s Mark’s AI imaging and diagnostic processing capabilities, enabling non-invasive, portable screening with higher sensitivity for early-stage lesions compared to conventional methods. AI algorithms trained on diverse Indian demographic datasets reduce false positives while providing clinicians with probability scores and risk stratification, facilitating prioritised interventions in high-volume screening camps.
Designed for deployment in primary health centres, mobile medical units, and rural outreach programs, the device prioritises affordability (targeted under Rs 50,000/unit), battery operation, and cloud connectivity for remote expert review. Integration with Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission enables seamless patient record linkage and longitudinal screening tracking, supporting population-level cancer control strategies.
This public-private initiative aligns with India’s National Cancer Control Programme goals, where breast cancer incidence rises 3% annually among women aged 30-50. CMET’s materials expertise in flexible electronics and Lord’s Mark’s manufacturing scale position the duo to achieve commercial viability within 24 months, potentially transforming screening coverage from the current 10% to 40% in underserved regions.
