Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has announced that Dr AK Panda has assumed charge as Chairman & Managing Director on 09 May 2026.
Prior to taking over as CMD, Dr. Panda served as Director (Finance) of the company and also held the additional charge of Director (Commercial) for nearly nine months.

Dr AK Panda began his journey with SAIL in 1992 as a Management Trainee (Technical) after completing his B.E. in Electrical Engineering.
Over the past three decades, he has held diverse leadership responsibilities across multiple plants and units of the organization, gaining extensive experience across:
- Operations
- Finance
- Commercial strategy
- Production management
- Sales and marketing
- Human resources
His rise through the organization reflects a long-standing contribution to the company’s operational and strategic growth.
