Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty has assumed the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA). He will continue to serve in his existing role as Director (Finance).
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has assigned Dr. Mohanty the additional responsibility for a period of three months, or until a regular Chairman and Managing Director is appointed, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Dr. Mohanty has been serving as Director (Finance) at IREDA since October 2023 and has also held the additional responsibility of Chief Financial Officer. With over two decades of experience in finance, public sector management, and the power sector, he has played a key role in strengthening the organisation’s financial operations and governance.
Before joining IREDA, he held leadership positions at REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) and REC Limited, where he was associated with finance, accounts, and infrastructure development initiatives. A Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, Dr. Mohanty holds academic qualifications in commerce, public administration, law, and a PhD in Commerce.
His appointment comes at a time when IREDA continues to play a pivotal role in financing renewable energy and clean energy projects across the country, supporting India’s transition towards a sustainable energy future.
