Hemang Jani Continues as Senior Adviser to World Bank Executive Director

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of Hemang Jani’s foreign deputation as Senior Adviser to the Executive Director at the World Bank, Washington, D.C.

Jani, who has been serving in the position since 2023, will continue in the role for another two years beyond July 16, 2027, taking his extended tenure up to July 16, 2029, or until his successor assumes charge, whichever is earlier.

A public policy professional with more than two decades of experience, Jani has worked across governance, innovation, public-sector capacity building and private-sector development. Before joining the World Bank, he served as Secretary of the Capacity Building Commission and also worked in the Prime Minister’s Office, where he contributed to initiatives focused on innovation and entrepreneurship.

At the World Bank, Jani serves as Senior Adviser to the Executive Director and is involved in policy and institutional matters across the bank’s areas of engagement. His continuation is expected to provide further continuity to India’s representation and engagement at the multilateral institution.
