Galgotias University has announced the appointment of Mr. Ramanan Ramanathan as an Advisor. A distinguished figure in India’s technology and innovation ecosystem, Mr. Ramanathan served as the first Mission Director of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) under NITI Aayog, Government of India.
During his tenure at NITI Aayog, Mr. Ramanathan played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s innovation framework. He spearheaded the rollout of Atal Tinkering Labs across schools nationwide, led the expansion of Atal Incubation Centres, launched national innovation challenges, and established one of India’s largest mentor networks to support emerging entrepreneurs.
An alumnus of IIT Bombay and Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program, Mr. Ramanathan brings over four decades of cross-sector leadership experience spanning technology, public policy, and innovation. Prior to his work with NITI Aayog, he held executive leadership roles, including Senior Vice President at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Managing Director & CEO of CMC Limited.
In his new advisory role, Mr. Ramanathan will work with Galgotias University to strengthen its innovation, research, and entrepreneurship initiatives. His focus will include expanding hands-on mentorship, deepening industry-academia links, and driving student-led venture opportunities aligned with national development goals.
“His leadership and experience will strengthen Galgotias University’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, enabling students to engage with transformative ideas, industry mentorship, and startup opportunities,” the university noted in its official announcement.
The strategic appointment underscores Galgotias University’s continued push to position itself as a hub for higher education innovation and student entrepreneurship in India.
