Government AI Cancer Screening Initiatives Get Major Boost Under India AI Mission

India’s AI cancer screening roadmap accelerates with Cancer AI & Technology Challenge (CATCH) grants up to ₹1 crore for AI solutions spanning screening-to-diagnostics. MeitY and the National Cancer Grid (NCG) fund clinical-tech partnerships targeting breast, cervical, and oral cancers through the India AI Mission.
Strategy for AI in Healthcare (SAHI) provides ethical AI healthcare framework guidelines, while the BODH platform (IIT Kanpur) benchmarks health AI tools pre-deployment. Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) offers developer sandboxes to integrate AI screening apps into the ABHA ID ecosystem.
National NCD Portal under NP-NCD programme enables NCD digital screening, risk assessment, and referrals linking PHCs-CHCs to district hospitals with standardised e-records. NHM SPIP funding for NP-NCD jumped from ₹60,659 lakh (2021-22) to ₹1,51,052 lakh (2025-26), powering AI-enabled cancer screening in India.
