IAS officer Lokhande Prashant Sitaram, currently serving as Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) under the Ministry of Education, has been designated as Additional Secretary in the Department of Home, Ministry of Home Affairs.
A 2001-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, Sitaram will continue to hold the additional charge of Chairperson, CBSE, alongside his new assignment in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
In his role as CBSE Chairperson, he has been responsible for overseeing academic administration, regulatory functions, and policy implementation across one of India’s largest school education boards. His leadership has been associated with strengthening institutional processes and supporting reforms within the education system.
Over the course of his career in the Indian Administrative Service, Sitaram has served in multiple key positions across government departments, contributing to governance, administration, and policy execution at various levels.
His designation as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs reflects the continued deployment of senior IAS officers in key administrative roles across the central government, while he continues to manage responsibilities at CBSE.
