Ms. Isha Khosla, a 2011-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed as Director in the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Her appointment, made under the Central Staffing Scheme, will be for a period of five years starting August 2025.
Ms. Khosla brings over a decade of distinguished service in public administration, with extensive experience spanning finance, personnel management, and district governance. An alumna of Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, Delhi University, she holds a B.Com (Hons) degree and is also a qualified Company Secretary from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India—credentials that have reinforced her expertise in finance and governance.
Her administrative journey began with her foundational training at LBSNAA, Mussoorie, followed by critical field postings in Arunachal Pradesh as Additional Deputy Commissioner and later as Deputy Commissioner of Upper Siang district. Her work in these remote regions was recognised for its effective governance and delivery of welfare initiatives.
Ms. Khosla has since held several key positions across Goa and Delhi, including Resident Commissioner and Special Secretary (Finance/Budget) in Goa, Secretary (Personnel), and District Magistrate of South Delhi—a role she held from 2021 to 2024. Her tenure as DM was marked by administrative efficiency, strong public engagement, and streamlined service delivery. She also served as Special Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, coordinating high-level administrative matters.
In her new role at the Department of Expenditure, Ms. Khosla is expected to contribute significantly to fiscal management, policy analysis, and budgetary oversight at the central level. Her cross-regional experience, coupled with her structured and principled approach to administration, makes her well-suited to handle the complexities of public expenditure and financial governance.
Widely regarded for her calm leadership and result-oriented work ethic, Ms. Khosla’s appointment reflects her growing stature in the civil services and her ongoing commitment to nation-building through impactful governance.
