Technology and cybersecurity professional Kiran Belsekar has joined Mahindra Manulife Insurance Limited (MMIL), bringing extensive experience in technology leadership, cybersecurity, data management and digital transformation to the newly established life insurance company.
Belsekar’s move comes as MMIL works towards establishing a digitally enabled and customer-focused insurance business built around artificial intelligence and technology. The company is pursuing its broader vision of “Insurance for All”, with an emphasis on making insurance more accessible while using digital capabilities to simplify customer journeys.
Mahindra Manulife Insurance Limited was established as a 50:50 joint venture between Mahindra and Manulife, bringing together Mahindra’s established presence and understanding of the Indian market with Manulife’s international experience in insurance, product development and underwriting. The partnership is aimed at creating a new-generation life insurance platform for Indian customers.
In his new association with MMIL, Belsekar is expected to contribute to the organisation’s technology and digital agenda, drawing on his experience across cybersecurity, IT governance, data strategy and enterprise-wide transformation. His expertise aligns with the company’s objective of embedding technology into its operating model from the ground up.
Belsekar has also highlighted the opportunity presented by the greenfield venture, particularly the scope to work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, technology and the capabilities of both the Mahindra and Manulife ecosystems. The role provides an opportunity to help shape technology frameworks and digital capabilities as the insurer develops its business.
MMIL is targeting a broad customer base across rural, semi-urban and urban markets, with a focus on protection and long-term savings solutions. Its technology-led approach is intended to support the company’s efforts to address India’s continuing insurance and protection needs while delivering simpler and more accessible customer experiences.
With experience spanning technology strategy, cybersecurity, data governance and digital transformation, Belsekar’s addition strengthens the leadership capabilities of MMIL as it works towards building a modern, technology-first life insurance business.
