Ministry of Education Leads AI Frontier Push at India AI Summit

The Ministry of Education is set to host a high-profile session, “Ministry of Education – Pushing the Frontier of AI in India,” on February 17, 2026, at Bharat  Mandapam in Delhi, as part of the ongoing India AI Impact Summit 2026. Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and Minister of State for Education, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (IC) Shri Jayant Chaudhary will lead the event, spotlighting AI’s transformative role in realizing National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and Viksit Bharat@2047 visions. Over the last decade, the Ministry has laid robust AI foundations through national digital platforms like DIKSHA, SWAYAM, and PM e-VIDYA; policy reforms emphasizing tech integration; and establishment of Centres of Excellence, including the new AI CoE at IIT Madras, funded post-2025 Budget. Initiatives encompass teacher upskilling via NISHTHA-AI modules, curriculum revamps embedding AI literacy from school level, and deep industry-academia partnerships fostering innovation ecosystems.
Recent milestones include consultations with over 100 AI startups for edtech solutions, the
Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave 2026, and leveraging public digital infrastructure for nationwide
scaling, ensuring equitable access amid India’s diverse learner base. The session, moderated by Prof. Manoj S. Gaur, Director of IIT Jammu, features panelists from top academia, industry giants, and investment leaders, debating pathways to AI-driven personalized learning, predictive analytics, and future-ready skilling. This platform underscores India’s evolution from AI policy visionary to executor at scale, addressing challenges like multilingual models for regional languages and ethical AI in assessments. Pradhan’s participation signals education’s centrality in PM Modi’s tech mantra, blending ancient wisdom with frontier tech for “AI for All.” As the Summit unfolds, the session positions Indian education as a global benchmark for inclusive, intelligent systems empowering 260 million students.
