Mukesh Kumar Meshram Appointed Additional Chief Secretary in Uttar Pradesh Government

Senior IAS officer Mukesh Kumar Meshram has been promoted to the post of Additional Chief Secretary in the Government of Uttar Pradesh, with effect from January 2026. The elevation marks an important milestone in his administrative career and reflects the state government’s confidence in his leadership and governance experience.

Meshram has been assigned charge of the Animal Husbandry, Dairy, and Fisheries departments, sectors that play a critical role in rural livelihoods, agricultural value chains, and nutritional security in the state. In his new role, he will be responsible for policy oversight, programme implementation, and institutional coordination across these departments.

Prior to this appointment, Meshram served as Principal Secretary in the Uttar Pradesh government. He also held the position of Principal Secretary for Tourism and Culture from September 2020 to September 2025, during which he was closely involved in strengthening the state’s tourism ecosystem, cultural promotion, and heritage initiatives.

With over five years of senior leadership experience in the state administration, Mukesh Kumar Meshram Additional Chief Secretary Uttar Pradesh is expected to contribute to policy leadership, administrative coordination, and sectoral reforms aligned with the government’s development priorities.

His promotion to the rank of Additional Chief Secretary places him among the senior-most officers in the Uttar Pradesh administration and is expected to add depth and continuity to governance at the highest level.
