Union Health Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda inaugurated an AI-enabled e-ICU Command Centre at Yashoda Medicity, Ghaziabad, linking it with MMG District Hospital to bolster technology-driven critical care, according to a Press Information Bureau (PIB) release (PRID: 2232363).[1] The facility leverages artificial intelligence for centralised ICU monitoring, delivering early alerts, risk stratification, and 24/7 specialist oversight to enable faster interventions for critically ill patients at district levels.
Shri Nadda commended Yashoda Medicity’s multi-speciality ecosystem spanning 65 disciplines and praised the e-ICU partnership as exemplary corporate social responsibility supporting public health. He highlighted AI’s role in timely interventions, precise diagnostics, and real-time monitoring, crucial for emergencies where seconds impact survival. The system generates predictive warnings, flags high-risk cases, and provides data-driven clinician support, standardising protocols and enhancing safety.
Framing it within national policy, the Minister recalled the National Health Policy 2017’s digital health foundation under Digital India, accelerated by PM Narendra Modi’s tech integration push. Over 1.81 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs operate nationwide, with 50,000+ NQAS-certified and full certification targeted within two years. eSanjeevani has enabled 45.2 crore teleconsultations, improving remote specialist access.
U-WIN platform registrations exceed 11.47 crore for pregnant women, bolstering the Universal Immunisation Programme’s 27 vaccine doses against 12 diseases, achieving near-99% coverage. AI handheld X-rays aid TB screening, driving a 17% incidence decline versus the global 7%. Maternal and under-five mortality improvements surpass global averages through digital interventions.
The SAHI portal promotes ethical AI in healthcare, while BODH benchmarks health AI solutions. India pioneered two indigenous COVID vaccines in nine months, administering 220 crore doses via digital certification, and leads in affordable pharmaceuticals.
Ayushman Bharat–PM Jan Arogya Yojana, the world’s largest health assurance scheme, covers 62 crore beneficiaries, including over 70, with ₹5 lakh annual family coverage, enabling swift cancer treatment post-detection.
This e-ICU model extends specialist care to underserved areas, exemplifying India’s AI-digital healthcare fusion for accessibility, affordability, quality, and equity.
