PM Modi Calls for Greater Focus on AI, Automation in Education

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urges India to accelerate the integration of education with the real-world economy, placing stronger emphasis on subjects like artificial intelligence (AI), automation, digital economy, and design-driven manufacturing. Addressing a post-budget webinar attended by government stakeholders and private sector experts, Modi states that fulfilling people’s aspirations remains the government’s core resolve, with education, skills, health, tourism, sports, and culture serving as key enablers. He highlights the need to intensify focus on these emerging areas as India transitions toward an innovation-driven economy.
Modi points to the growing interest among Indian daughters in STEM fields, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and stresses creating research ecosystems that provide young researchers ample opportunities for new ideas. He notes that no girl should face barriers in futuristic technologies, aligning education reforms with national goals for technological leadership. In health, Modi underscores strengthened infrastructure,
including new medical colleges in hundreds of districts, expanded Ayushman Bharat coverage, and Arogya Mandirs reaching villages, alongside global recognition for yoga and Ayurveda.
The Prime Minister also addresses the rising ‘care economy’ for senior citizens, calling for new training models for caregivers as India’s aging population grows. He emphasizes viewing youth as national power when healthy, disciplined, and confident, with initiatives like Khelo India boosting sports infrastructure nationwide. These remarks come during a webinar reviewing Budget 2026-27 implementation, reinforcing education’s role in economic aspirations.
