IAS Officer Prateek Jain Assumes Key Governance Role

Prateek Jain has taken charge as GST Commissioner and Inspector General of Registration & Stamp Duty, Uttarakhand, marking another important milestone in his administrative career.

The appointment of Prateek Jain Uttarakhand GST comes as the state continues focusing on digital governance reforms, efficient tax administration, and improved citizen-centric public services.

In his new role, Prateek Jain aims to make tax administration more transparent, efficient, and business-friendly while strengthening taxpayer services across Uttarakhand.

Extensive Administrative Experience Across Uttarakhand

An Indian Administrative Service officer, Prateek Jain has held several key leadership positions across governance, tourism, industrial development, and district administration in Uttarakhand.

Before assuming the new role, he served as Managing Director of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam, where he focused on strengthening tourism infrastructure and the Char Dham pilgrimage ecosystem.

During his tenure, he also led initiatives including the International Yog Festival 2026 with participation from global spiritual leaders and dignitaries.

Leadership in Industrial Development and Governance

Prateek Jain earlier served as Managing Director of SIIDCUL and Director General (Industries), Uttarakhand.

In that role, he led industrial development initiatives, ease of doing business reforms, investment facilitation, and startup ecosystem growth in the state. He also played a major role in grounding investment proposals following the Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit and spearheaded the launch of the Uttarakhand Venture Fund.

His administrative journey also includes serving as District Magistrate of Rudraprayag, where he oversaw governance, disaster management, law and order, and the successful execution of Kedarnath Yatra 2025.

Focus on Digital Governance and Taxpayer Services

Officials believe the appointment of Prateek Jain Uttarakhand GST will support efforts toward improving governance efficiency, digital tax administration, and public service delivery across the state.

Over the years, his work across Haridwar, Nainital, Rudraprayag, and industrial governance roles has focused on development administration, citizen engagement, public welfare, and institutional transformation.

As Uttarakhand strengthens digital governance frameworks, experienced administrative leadership is expected to play a crucial role in improving transparency, ease of compliance, and taxpayer experience.
