The President of India has appointed Shri Praveen Vashista, a 1991-batch IPS officer, as Vigilance Commissioner in the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC). He formally took oath on 16 January 2026, assuming a key role in strengthening institutional integrity and vigilance oversight at the national level.
With over three decades of experience in policing, internal security, and investigative assignments, including service with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Shri Vashista brings deep operational and administrative expertise to the Commission. His appointment is expected to further reinforce the CVC’s mandate of promoting transparency, accountability, and ethical governance across public institutions.
