Saleem Ahmad Takes Over as Chairman and Managing Director of RVNL

Saleem Ahmad has assumed charge as Chairman and Managing Director of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a Schedule ‘A’ Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways. He succeeds Pradeep Gaur, who superannuated on August 31, 2025, marking a leadership transition at the rail infrastructure development company.

Before his appointment as CMD, Saleem Ahmad served as Director (Projects) at NBCC (India) Limited. He takes over from Sukhmal Chand Jain, IRSE 1988 batch, who had been holding additional charge of the CMD position since September 1, 2025. His elevation reflects confidence in his extensive experience across large-scale infrastructure planning and execution.

With more than 35 years of experience in construction and infrastructure development, Ahmad has led and contributed to several high-impact projects across urban transport and maritime sectors. His professional journey includes serving as Executive Director (Civil) at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, where he was involved in critical metro rail projects, as well as holding key responsibilities at the Mumbai Port Trust.

A graduate in Civil Engineering from Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi, Saleem Ahmad brings strong technical expertise combined with senior-level leadership experience. His background spans project execution, contract management, and large infrastructure delivery, aligning closely with RVNL’s mandate as the Ministry of Railways’ specialised executing arm for rail and allied infrastructure projects.

His assumption of charge as Chairman and Managing Director is expected to support RVNL’s ongoing and upcoming rail infrastructure initiatives, strengthening project delivery capabilities and contributing to the expansion and modernisation of India’s railway network.
