Sandeep Bakhshi has been re-appointed as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of ICICI Bank, with the bank’s board approving an extension of his tenure for a further two years, from October 4, 2026 to October 3, 2028. The decision ensures leadership continuity at one of India’s largest private sector banks and is subject to the requisite approvals from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the bank’s shareholders.
Bakhshi has led ICICI Bank since October 2018, during which time the institution has strengthened asset quality, reinforced risk management and governance frameworks, and pursued calibrated growth across both retail and corporate banking segments. Under his leadership, the bank has focused on balance sheet resilience, customer-centricity, and sustainable long-term growth.
The board’s decision to extend his term reflects strong confidence in Bakhshi’s leadership, strategic direction, and execution capabilities as ICICI Bank continues to navigate an evolving banking and financial services landscape.
