A 2019-batch IAS officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre, Salam was serving as Director, Sports and Youth Welfare Department before her latest posting. She has now been moved to district administration, taking charge of Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki following the transfer of Tulika Prajapati, who has been appointed Collector of Kabirdham.
As Collector and District Magistrate, Salam will be responsible for overseeing the district’s overall administration, implementation of government programmes, revenue matters and coordination of development and public welfare initiatives.
Her appointment also adds to the growing representation of women in senior district-level administrative positions in Chhattisgarh. Following the latest reshuffle, 12 of the state’s 33 districts are headed by women IAS officers, accounting for more than one-third of the state’s Collectorates.
Salam’s move from the Sports and Youth Welfare Department to district administration marks a significant new responsibility in her career and places her at the forefront of governance and development initiatives in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki.
