Temasek has appointed former DBS Group CEO Piyush Gupta as its India Chairman, adding a seasoned global banker to guide the firm’s strategy in one of its most important growth markets. Gupta will serve in a non-executive advisory role, effective immediately.
In his new position, Gupta will work with Temasek’s India leadership to shape long-term investment priorities, strengthen relationships with policymakers, and support the company’s expanding portfolio across financial services, technology, consumer businesses and new-economy sectors.
Gupta, who led DBS for more than 15 years, is widely recognised for transforming the bank into a global leader in digital banking and regional expansion. His appointment signals Temasek’s intent to deepen its presence in India amid rising investment opportunities and rapid economic growth.
Temasek said the move will help enhance strategic direction for its India operations, while giving portfolio companies access to Gupta’s extensive experience and networks across Asia’s financial and corporate landscape.
