HCLTech has appointed Amitabh Kant, India’s former G20 Sherpa, as an Independent Director on its Board, effective September 8, 2025.
Kant, a distinguished policymaker and reformist, played a pivotal role in India’s G20 Presidency by steering consensus-building that culminated in the New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration, addressing global priorities such as digital public infrastructure, climate finance, technology, and international cooperation.
Over his extensive career, he has held several high-profile positions, including CEO of NITI Aayog, where he spearheaded the Aspirational Districts Program. He has also served in leadership roles at the Department for Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) and the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC). Kant is widely recognized for shaping transformational initiatives such as Make in India, Startup India, the Production Linked Incentive schemes, and tourism campaigns including “Incredible India” and “God’s Own Country.”
