BPCL Strengthens Vigilance Leadership with Additional Appointment

Ved Prakash Verma has taken over additional charge as Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited while continuing to serve as Chief Vigilance Officer at Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited.

The appointment of Ved Prakash Verma BPCL comes as the PSU continues to strengthen its focus on transparency, ethical governance, vigilance mechanisms, and organizational excellence.

Veteran ITS Officer with Extensive Public Sector Experience

A 1995 batch Indian Telecom Service (ITS) officer, Shri Verma brings decades of experience across public administration, telecommunications, governance, regulatory oversight, and vigilance functions.

Throughout his distinguished career, he has held several leadership positions in government institutions and public sector organizations, contributing significantly to institutional strengthening and operational governance.

His current role as Chief Vigilance Officer at HPCL involves implementing vigilance frameworks, promoting transparency, and ensuring compliance with Central Vigilance Commission guidelines.

Leadership Roles Across Telecommunications and Public Administration

Prior to his vigilance assignments, Shri Verma served in multiple senior positions within the Department of Telecommunications, including Deputy Director General and Director of Telecommunications.

His responsibilities included telecom regulation, cyber security initiatives, licensing enforcement, project monitoring, and digital infrastructure oversight.

Earlier, he served as Additional Election Commissioner with the State Election Commission, Uttar Pradesh, where he played a key role in conducting local body and panchayat elections across all 75 districts of the state.

Long Association with India’s Telecom Sector

Shri Verma also spent more than a decade with BSNL, holding various operational and leadership roles across planning, administration, technology validation, network operations, and telecom service management.

His experience spans rural telecommunications, technology deployment, telecom infrastructure management, and organizational administration.

Officials believe the appointment of Ved Prakash Verma BPCL will further strengthen vigilance practices, ethical governance frameworks, and accountability mechanisms within the organization.
