P Vijayan Assumes Charge as ADGP Law & Order, Takes Leadership of Kerala Cyber Division

Senior IPS Officer to Lead Law & Order and Cyber Policing in Kerala

P Vijayan IPS has assumed charge as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law & Order, Kerala Police, while also taking over the responsibility of leading Kerala’s Cyber Division.

The appointment of P Vijayan Kerala Police marks a significant leadership transition as the state continues to strengthen both traditional policing and cybersecurity capabilities amid evolving security challenges.

P Vijayan Takes Charge of Key Leadership Role

Sharing the announcement, Vijayan expressed gratitude to colleagues, well-wishers, and supporters who have been part of his professional journey.

As ADGP Law & Order, he will oversee critical policing functions across the state while simultaneously leading Kerala’s Cyber Division, which plays an increasingly important role in tackling cybercrime, digital fraud, online threats, and cybersecurity-related investigations.

His dual responsibilities place him at the center of Kerala’s law enforcement and cyber resilience strategy.

Extensive Experience Across Kerala Police

A seasoned IPS officer, Vijayan brings more than two decades of leadership experience across multiple policing, intelligence, investigation, administration, and public safety assignments.

Before assuming his current responsibilities, he served as Inspector General of Police (IGP), Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), Kerala, where he led initiatives focused on counterterrorism and security operations.

He also held the position of IGP Administration & Headquarters and IGP Headquarters, contributing to organizational leadership and police administration.

Leadership Across Policing and Security Functions

Throughout his career, Vijayan has held several high-profile operational assignments including:

  • Commissioner of Police, Thiruvananthapuram City
  • Commissioner of Police, Thrissur City
  • Commissioner of Police, Kozhikode City
  • Commissioner of Police, Kochi City
  • Inspector General of Police, Coastal Security
  • Deputy Inspector General of Police, Intelligence & Armed Police Battalions
  • Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch CID

These roles provided him with extensive experience in law enforcement, intelligence gathering, public safety, criminal investigations, and strategic policing.

Experience in Crime Investigation and Administration

Vijayan has also served in specialized investigative roles within the Crime Branch CID, including overseeing homicide investigations and complex criminal cases.

In addition to policing assignments, he served as Managing Director of Kerala Books & Publications Society (KBPS), reflecting his experience in public administration and organizational leadership beyond law enforcement.

Strengthening Kerala’s Cybersecurity and Law Enforcement Framework

The appointment of P Vijayan Kerala Police comes at a time when cybersecurity has become a critical component of public safety and governance.

As head of Kerala’s Cyber Division, Vijayan is expected to guide initiatives focused on cybercrime prevention, digital investigations, cyber awareness, and strengthening the state’s cyber defense capabilities.
