AI for Inclusion: Ministers Champion Skilling Revolution at India AI Summit

Union Ministers for Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, and for Skill Development, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, visited the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) Pavilion at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, highlighting AI’s transformative role in fostering inclusive growth, boosting workforce productivity, and empowering India’s vast human capital.
The ministers engaged with hands-on demonstrations of practical, scalable AI solutions
designed specifically for India, extending beyond high-end applications to directly benefit
youth, workers, entrepreneurs, and the informal economy through enhanced skills and
livelihood opportunities. Central to the showcase was MSDE’s tripartite framework: skilling AIvia programs like SOAR (Skilling for AI Readiness), which introduces NSQF-aligned job
roles and nano-credentials to build foundational AI competencies; skilling AI using intelligent tools such as the Skill India Assistant, a conversational platform offering personalized career guidance, job matching, and upskilling recommendations based on individual profiles and aspirations.
The pavilion also featured skilling AI through gamified, accessible experiences tailored for
blue-collar workers, for instance, AI-driven apps enabling farmers to monitor soil health,
electricians to diagnose faults via image analysis, and weavers to generate traditional design patterns, thereby augmenting daily productivity without requiring advanced tech literacy. Interactive zones powered by the National Skill Development Corporation’s SIDH
recommendation engine integrated learning pathways, certifications, and employment
opportunities, delivering hyper-personalized suggestions to bridge skill gaps efficiently.
A standout innovation was AI for monitoring and assessment, leveraging computer vision to
objectively evaluate hands-on skills during training, ensuring transparency, standardization,
and credibility in certifications—particularly vital for informal sectors and aligned with the
National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) and the National Council for Vocational
Education and Training (NCVET) standards.
Shri Jayant Chaudhary reiterated that India’s AI trajectory must embed inclusion and job
creation at its core, focusing on augmentation rather than replacement of human talent to
harness the nation’s demographic dividend effectively. The visit reinforced MSDE’s vision of
a human-centric AI ecosystem, positioning skilling as the cornerstone of a resilient, Viksit Bharat equipped for the intelligent age.
