Anant Swarup has been appointed Secretary General of FICCI, effective April 15, 2026, bringing over three decades of experience in public policy, trade, and international negotiations.
Strengthening industry leadership
In his new role, he will lead FICCI’s policy advocacy, industry engagement, and stakeholder coordination efforts across sectors.
His appointment is expected to strengthen the organisation’s role in shaping India’s economic and trade policies.
Extensive experience in trade and policy
A 1992-batch IRPS officer, Swarup has held several key positions in the Government of India.
He served as Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry India, where he played a critical role in trade remedies, FTA negotiations, and international trade policy.
He also represented India at the WTO in Geneva and served as Director General of Trade Remedies, overseeing anti-dumping and safeguard investigations.
Leadership across public and private sectors
Before joining FICCI, he was Senior Advisor at EY India, where he advised on trade policy and regulatory matters.
His diverse experience across government, international institutions, and advisory roles positions him well to lead FICCI’s next phase.
