Anshuman Pund Named Chief Information Security Officer at SBM Bank India
Anshuman Pund has been appointed as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at SBM Bank (India), bringing with him extensive experience in cybersecurity, information security governance, and regulatory compliance across banking and technology ecosystems. His appointment comes at a time when cybersecurity and digital resilience are increasingly critical priorities for the banking sector.
In his new role, Pund will be responsible for driving the bank’s information security strategy, overseeing cyber risk management initiatives, strengthening governance frameworks, and ensuring alignment with regulatory and compliance requirements. He is expected to play a key role in enhancing the bank’s overall security posture as digital adoption continues to accelerate across financial services.
Prior to joining SBM Bank (India), Pund served as Chief Information Security Officer at Suryoday Small Finance Bank Ltd., where he led enterprise-wide information security initiatives, cyber security operations centre functions, cyber risk management programmes, and regulatory alignment within the financial services environment.
Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership and consulting roles at Tech Mahindra, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), and IDBI Intech Ltd., contributing to cybersecurity architecture, information security governance, and large-scale security operations supporting critical digital infrastructure.
His professional journey also includes experience with Essar Group (AEGIS Ltd.), National Institute for Smart Government (NISG – Government of Maharashtra), Reliance Tech Services (Reliance Industries Limited), and Barco. This diverse background has provided him with exposure across banking, payments, telecom, government, and enterprise technology domains.
Anshuman Pund’s appointment reflects his deep domain expertise and positions him to play a significant role in strengthening information security leadership within the Indian banking ecosystem.
