Commodore Sanjay Kumar has been recommended by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) for the post of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), a PSU under the Ministry of Science & Technology.
Currently serving as Director, HQ Naval Technical Group (Bangalore), Indian Navy, Commodore Kumar was selected from a panel of 12 candidates interviewed by PESB on September 10, 2026.
If approved, he will succeed Commodore Amit Rastogi (Retd.), who has been heading NRDC since October 2021. His appointment will be subject to the requisite clearances and approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
NRDC functions under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research and works towards the development, promotion and transfer of technologies emerging from national research and development institutions, helping translate innovations into marketable industrial applications.
