The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Vasudha Chandra Suratkal for the post of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Orissa Mineral Development Company Limited (OMDC).
Suratkal is currently serving as Chief General Manager (Mining) at KIOCL Limited and has extensive experience in mining, mine management, statutory clearances and project management in the mineral sector. He has been associated with KIOCL since 1991.
A mining engineer by qualification, Suratkal holds a B.Tech in Engineering from the erstwhile Karnataka Regional Engineering College, Surathkal, and an MBA in Operations Management. He also holds a First-Class Manager’s Certificate of Competency for metalliferous mines.
He has earlier handled responsibilities across mine management, project development, human resources and mineral exploration. He was also associated with OMDC as Managing Director on additional charge from February 2025.
The PESB recommendation will now be subject to the prescribed approval process and other necessary formalities before Suratkal assumes the full-time CMD position at OMDC.
