GAIL Gas Limited has appointed Ashu Shinghal as its new Chief Executive Officer, strengthening the company’s leadership across India’s expanding energy and city gas distribution ecosystem.
GAIL Gas Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of GAIL (India) Limited and plays a significant role in the country’s city gas distribution and clean energy infrastructure initiatives.
Over Three Decades of Energy Sector Experience
Ashu Shinghal brings more than 35 years of experience across the hydrocarbon and energy sector.
He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology Silchar along with an MBA in Operations Management.
Shinghal joined GAIL in 1991 as a Graduate Engineer Trainee and steadily progressed through multiple leadership positions before serving as Executive Director.
During his tenure at GAIL, he led functions spanning:
- Corporate strategy and planning
- Sustainability initiatives
- Comprehensive quality management
- Risk management
- Energy infrastructure planning
He also served as the company’s Chief Risk Officer.
Leadership at Mahanagar Gas Limited
Before taking charge at GAIL Gas Limited, Shinghal oversaw operations at Mahanagar Gas Limited.
During his leadership tenure, the company achieved:
- Significant revenue growth
- Expansion in market capitalisation
- Record profit after tax
- Growth in domestic PNG connections
- Expansion of CNG infrastructure
He also supported strategic diversification initiatives across:
