India Transforms into Global Pharma Innovation Powerhouse: JP Nadda

Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda declared India’s evolution from the “pharmacy of the world” to a “global innovation hub” under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, focusing on healthcare sovereignty and resilient manufacturing. Delivering a video message at the 11th Global Pharmaceutical Quality Summit in Mumbai on February 23, 2026, he exhorted industry leaders to secure global supply chains through unwavering commitment to quality, dependability, and pioneering research.
Highlighting flagship programs, Nadda spotlighted the ₹10,000 crore Biopharma Shakti scheme to catapult India’s biopharmaceutical capabilities with augmented R&D infrastructure. The PRIP (Promotion of Research and Innovation in Pharma MedTech) initiative accelerates the development of novel therapeutics, complex generics, vaccines, and next-gen medical devices. He emphasized responsible AI adoption for predictive analytics in diagnostics, end-to-end pharmaceutical traceability, advanced pharmacovigilance, and fortified quality assurance systems.
True quality transcends regulatory checkboxes to become organizational DNA, Nadda asserted, advocating sustained investments in skilled workforce, cutting-edge processes, and future-ready infrastructure. India merges massive scale with uncompromised trust, bold innovation with collaborative ecosystems, and rapid growth with ethical responsibility, poised to redefine global healthcare delivery.
