In a key administrative development, Johny Tom Varghese, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 2014 batch from the Tamil Nadu cadre, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Mines, Government of India. His appointment has been made under the Central Staffing Scheme for a fixed tenure of four years.
The Ministry of Mines plays a vital role in formulating and administering policies related to mineral exploration and development in India.
