Kevin Vaz, Chief Executive Officer of the Entertainment Business at JioStar, has been appointed as the new President of the Indian Digital Media Industry Foundation (IDMIF), marking a strategic leadership transition within India’s rapidly evolving digital content ecosystem.
The appointment was formally approved at the IDMIF Board meeting held on July 30, 2025. Vaz takes over from K. Madhavan, under whose stewardship the foundation emerged as a key advocate for self-regulation, innovation, and policy dialogue in India’s digital media sector.
A seasoned media executive with close to 30 years of experience across television, OTT, and content businesses, Kevin Vaz brings with him a deep understanding of content dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and consumer behavior. At JioStar, he has been instrumental in steering content strategy and audience engagement across platforms.
In his first remarks as President, Vaz said:
“I am honoured to lead IDMIF at a time when digital media is reshaping the storytelling landscape. Our focus will be on building a responsible, competitive, and inclusive digital media environment that nurtures creativity while balancing consumer trust and business innovation.”
IDMIF, a division of the Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF), plays a pivotal role in representing the interests of digital content creators, OTT platforms, and streaming services. It also oversees the Digital Media Content Regulatory Council (DMCRC), India’s first self-regulatory body for OTT content, chaired by Justice Mukul Mudgal (Retd.).
Industry observers see Vaz’s appointment as a timely move that aligns with the growing demand for adaptive, agile leadership as India’s digital consumption scales new heights. With upcoming challenges around content regulation, competition law, and monetization models, his leadership is expected to help shape the future contours of the digital media landscape in India.
