Kundan Kumar IAS Appointed Collector of Kanker, Chhattisgarh

The Chhattisgarh government has transferred Kundan Kumar, IAS, and appointed him as the new Collector of Kanker, as part of a major administrative reshuffle involving 22 IAS officers. The changes include fresh postings for several district Collectors and senior officials across key departments.

A 2014-batch IAS officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre, Kundan Kumar was serving as Collector of Mungeli before his latest transfer. He had been heading the Mungeli district administration since April 2025.

With his appointment as Collector of Kanker, Kumar will oversee the district’s overall administration, including development programmes, revenue matters, public service delivery and coordination among various government departments. Kanker, which has a significant tribal population and considerable mineral resources, remains an important district from an administrative and developmental perspective.

Kumar succeeds Nileshkumar Mahadev Kshirsagar, who has been transferred from the post of Collector, Kanker, and appointed Director, Urban Administration and Development. Meanwhile, Amrit Vikas Topno, who was serving as Collector of Sakti, has been posted as the new Collector of Mungeli.

The reshuffle brings Kundan Kumar into a significant district-level leadership role, where his experience in administration and development will be central to the implementation of government initiatives and strengthening public service delivery in Kanker.
