Manish Bhardwaj, IAS, Appointed as Secretary, National Disaster Management Authority

The Government of India has appointed Shri Manish Bhardwaj, IAS (Gujarat: 1997), as Secretary, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Shri Bhardwaj is presently serving as Deputy Director General, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). With over two decades of administrative experience, he has held several key positions at both the State and Central levels, contributing to governance, public policy, and technology-driven initiatives.

As Secretary, NDMA, Shri Bhardwaj will be responsible for steering India’s disaster risk reduction, preparedness, and response strategies. His leadership will be crucial in strengthening institutional mechanisms, enhancing resilience, and ensuring coordinated action in the face of natural disasters and climate-related challenges.

The appointment reflects the Government’s continued commitment to advancing comprehensive disaster management and resilience-building in line with national priorities and international frameworks.
