PM Modi’s PTI Interview: Budget 2026 Powers Vikasit Bharat Vision

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an exclusive interview with PTI released on February 14, 2026, described the Union Budget 2026-27 as a landmark document reflecting India’s “yearning to become a developed nation” and a “we are ready” moment driven by preparation, not compulsion. Presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1, the Budget deliberately shuns short-term populism for productive capital expenditure, scaling investments in rails, roads, airports, digital infrastructure, and energy to unprecedented levels, fivefold since 2013. Modi emphasized that “broken and outdated infrastructure has no place in a nation aspiring for Viksit Bharat,” crediting the NDA government’s decade-long push for next-gen assets that boost productivity, jobs, and quality of life. Calling it the “first Budget of the 21st century’s second quarter,” Modi framed it as consolidating 2014 gains into a 25-year roadmap mirroring 1920s foundations for 1947 Independence, now targeting Viksit Bharat by 2047. He rejected “run-of-the-mill bahi-khata” ledgers, insisting each Budget carries intent, timelines, and sequenced actions, from structural gap-filling to inclusive welfare reaching the “last mile” via tech-driven, human-centric schemes. “Nation-building and economic strengthening” guide these efforts, transforming urgency into “national conviction,” as echoed in his Red Fort call: ‘Yahi Samay Hai, Sahi Samay Hai.’
On global positioning, Modi highlighted India as a “bright growth spot” drawing eager trade partners post-pandemic, exemplified by the India-UK deal and others negotiated from strength. Buoyed by “Made in India,” “Zero Defect, Zero Effect,” and MSME/startup boosts via easier credit and compliance, these pacts integrate India into value chains, creating youth opportunities. Defence modernization and future-ready infrastructure ensure perpetual strength, he added.
Modi underscored pro-people governance (P2G2) with Centre-state teamwork, empowering women, farmers, and the poor while skilling youth for a competitive world. The interview portrays a cohesive “Reform Express” accelerating macroeconomic stability, low inflation, and 7%+ growth amid a favorable demographic dividend. This PTI exchange reinforces Modi’s narrative of continuity, conviction, and scale, positioning Budget 2026 not as expenditure, but as empowerment for India’s global ascent. As countries line up for partnerships, the PM’s vision blends heavy-lifting infrastructure with welfare, heralding “Achche Din” through sustained momentum.
