The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, has made key gubernatorial appointments across three Union territories and states, aimed at strengthening administrative leadership and governance.
Shri Kavinder Gupta, a senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh. Known for his administrative acumen and grassroots political experience, Shri Gupta is expected to play a vital role in accelerating developmental initiatives and ensuring inclusive governance in the strategically important region.
In addition, new governors have been appointed for the states of Haryana and Goa:
Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has been appointed as the Governor of Haryana. A seasoned political figure and former Governor of Himachal Pradesh and Bihar, Shri Arlekar brings decades of legislative and executive experience to his new role.
Smt. Mridula Sinha, former Governor of Goa, returns to Raj Bhavan as the Governor of Goa, marking her continued contribution to public life and state administration.
These appointments come as part of a broader effort to reinforce stable and effective governance across India’s federal landscape.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan issued formal communiqués today confirming the appointments, which will take effect from their respective dates of swearing-in.
