In a significant cabinet transition, senior leader and Union Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi has assumed additional charge of the Ministry of Education. The appointment follows the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, with President Droupadi Murmu accepting the transition upon the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Alongside his new post heading the country’s education ecosystem, Minister Joshi continues to direct his existing portfolios as the Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, as well as New & Renewable Energy.
Representing Karnataka’s Dharwad constituency as a six-time Lok Sabha Member of Parliament, Shri Pralhad Joshi brings decades of administrative experience and governance to the Ministry. Over his career in public service, he has managed several key national portfolios, including serving as the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Coal, and Mines between 2019 and 2024. His appointment reflects the administration’s emphasis on steady leadership and policy continuity across pivotal central sectors.
The leadership change comes at a vital junction as the central government continues the implementation of the National Education Policy across school and higher education frameworks nationwide.
