Abbott India Limited has appointed Sudarshan Jain as its new Chairman, succeeding Munir Shaikh. Jain brings more than four decades of experience in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry.
Jain has held several senior leadership positions across pharmaceuticals, healthcare strategy, business operations, brand building, corporate governance and industry policy. His association with Abbott includes serving as Director – Marketing at Abbott India and later as Managing Director, Healthcare Solutions at Abbott.
He has also served on the Abbott India Board as an Independent Director since 2019, giving him long-standing familiarity with the company’s operations and business environment.
Beyond Abbott, Jain is the Secretary General of the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance, Senior Advisor at EQI Group and Chairman of IIHMR University, Jaipur. His earlier leadership experience includes roles with Piramal Pharma, Johnson & Johnson and Lupin.
Jain’s appointment comes at a time when India’s healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors are witnessing rapid changes in technology, regulation and consumer needs. His extensive industry experience is expected to support Abbott India’s continued growth and strategic direction.
As Chairman, Jain will bring his experience in healthcare leadership, corporate governance and industry affairs to the company’s senior leadership.
